Easter Egg 1 - Huevo de Pascua 1

How to present a traditional product in a new way?
How to protect a delicate object without hiding it?
How to pack and distribute a spherical object in an efficient, practical and safe way?
In 2017, the @chocolates_rapanui factory requested a redesign of the classic Easter egg presentation, raising not only these concerns but also needs that resulted in solutions that are not evident to the customer, such as reducing the loss of goods due to breakage, assembly times, packaging volume and increasing space for graphics.
This is another part of that work, the one that corresponds to the eggs of 360, 490, 800 and 1100 gr.
The design process began at this table. Rapanui delivered 5 kg of high quality chocolate eggs in 9 different sizes.
This time I will show the design process of the four largest presentations.
The first step was to measure the profile of each egg. In a simple but precise way I made cardboard templates and transferred their measurements to the computer.
This idea arose from the intersection between a rectangular prism and the ovoid shape with the purpose of finding a stable structure that leaves as much of the egg surface uncovered as possible where the chocolate makers have space to make their art.
The whole process was done by unfolding form in computer and mockups. This proposal was selected for the four largest eggs. Among its advantages, it has three times more graphic surface than the traditional presentation.
Two more proposals were also selected, one of which I will show in future presentations.
About these lines Diego Fenoglio, master chocolatier and founder of Chocolates Rapanui trying the assembly of the packaging,
To complement the protection of the merchandise, I resized the boxes for transfer to the premises by product, placing separators and reorganizing the pallets by weight and by location. This reduced the loss by breakage by 90%.
